Polar Tankers, through our integrated Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System (SQEMS), is compliant with and audited to the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Guide for Marine Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental (HSQE) Management.
Incorporated into the ABS HSQE Guide are the management system principles embodied in the ISM code, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
In an ongoing effort to improve internal processes and provide excellent customer service, Polar Tankers complies with the requirements of the ISM Code and ISO Standards (9001, 14001, 45001) to provide a framework for our ship management operations.
The Quality Group consists of the Director, Marine Quality (DPA), Training Director, Quality Coordinator and Quality Assurance Officers.
- The Director, Marine Quality serves as the Designated Person Ashore (DPA). Additionally, the Director, Marine Quality ensures an effective and continually improving management system, compliance with all external and internal audit and vetting requirements, and provides guidance to the Quality Assurance Officers.
- The Training Director is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive Company training plan to meet SQEMS, STCW, MARPOL, USCG, State, Federal, Corporate and relevant Regulatory requirements in accordance with ISM and ISO standards.
- The Quality Coordinator coordinates the Document Control Process; responsible for the administration, maintenance, and distribution of all Controlled Documents/Policies and Procedures.
- Quality Assurance Officers assist vessels and shore operations with maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations including company policies and programs.
